this one was trying to get away after almost being the cats morning tea |
aren't they just too cute? |
i am thinking of extending the rocks & logs i have out in the garden so they have a bit more of a hidey hole to rest in while mum & dad go foraging. already have a bundle out there that is housing the bromeliad & some cordylines, will post about it when i do it later, another day.
they've been picked up & i said that it's okay to release them back here when they are ready.
hope you enjoyed these cute little furry bundles as much as i did
thanx for visiting
They are really lovely Selina. You certainly have a lot of wildlife visiting your place, possums, wallabies and now hares.
ReplyDeleteHares! I have never seen any up that close and certainly not baby ones
ReplyDeleteyes, not often we get close ups of the living kind either, so quite enjoyed it too.
DeleteOh, how sweet. I am so glad you were able to rescue them.
ReplyDeleteYes - too cute for morning tea, Selina. Glad you were able to save them both.
ReplyDeleteVery cute, Selina. Do you have any rabbits up there as I believe there are quite a few in Queensland now? They have been seen not far from here and I heard on the news that they are becoming a real pest once again. Glad you saved the hares from the cat.
ReplyDeleteno rabbits here in this area that i've seen, they are out of control down woodford, kilcoy & maleny way though, or were a few years ago, have only seen hares here. too many native & feral predators here perhaps, who knows
DeleteHares are an introduced feral species yes? I'm confused as to why they would be allowed to be released again in the wild?
ReplyDeleteWhilst they are not as much of a problem as rabbits here I would have thought they would have to be euthanized? They do tend to damage young gums and other young native plants as they ring bark them.
xx
yes, they are an introduced species but so are rabbits, dogs & cats, rabbits are just cuter to have as pets...
DeleteI realize this, but we are not allowed to let rabbits go into the wild, and there is a lot of money spent trying to eradicate feral cats and dogs. Same as carp in the river - you catch them you have to kill them.
DeleteSo I'm wondering why the hares would be saved and then released as they are also a feral animal - a cute one none the less! Or do you mean you would take them on as pets? Which is an entirely different matter. I may have mis-read. :)
xx
they are a pest but i couldn't bring myself to kill these, whereas if the cat catches & kills one, i'm ok with that too. it's hard, i love all animals (cats mostly)
