't'is the silly season yet again ...

well it's that time of year again when the people go mad vying for parking spots at the shopping centres & running around grabbing last minute presents. total mayhem.

this year my children are doing secret santa to a list of choices which is a sensible idea if there must be presents, i prefer hand made if possible or just a lovely get together with family.

i have been been making some small items for family, friends & neighbours in the way of dish cloths, everyone is getting a Bavarian dish cloth, simple & usable. i tend to make things all year to give away it's just how i do things.

anyway here's a stack of cloths i managed to finish & am now starting some black & coloured ones for the men to which will be added some lovely shaving soap from Eight Acres

these are so easy & quick to whip up that i'll do a few more after xmas for our market stall when it starts up again in the new year.

hope everyone is keeping cool here in Australia as we struggle through these heatwaves, hope all my American readers are staying warm & cozy as the snow starts to fall

thanx for visiting

  1. Your dishcloths look lovely, Selina. I think they'll make lovely gifts:) I have made washcloths too and I bought some nice soaps to go with them. I got the soaps from the little local market they have on island where we are staying. Hope you are staying cool in the heat, we'll certainly miss the sea breezes when we return home. Meg:)

  2. Yes the dishcloths really look nice, Selina. I must try that stitch next year although I am starting to think that knitting and crochet aren't my forte as I keep forgetting where I am up to. Oops! Perhaps I should just stick to soap making :-)

    1. never give up! the Bavarian is basically a 2 row repeat, if you just practice on dish cloths first to get you started.
      you do do beautiful soaps

  3. I kind of wish it was warm here, but it is freezing temps right now! I will enjoy this for now and then bask in the warmth when it is our time.
Love those cloths you made. Are they crocheted or knit?

    1. crocheted, just google Bavarian or wool eater stitch & you will get many hits & plenty of tutorials too

  4. Your dish cloths are lovely Selina. The parking at shopping centres is chaotic at the moment. Even going grocery shopping is becoming stressful for me at the moment with all the crush.

  5. We are doing secret santa too this year! Everything on my list is vintage, second hand or to be made from scratch - we'll see how that goes!

  6. Very pretty dish cloths, Selina. That's a great idea to make black ones with shaving soap. Men are so hard to make things for and most of the people on my list are men. Stay cool and have a peaceful week!
